Subject: A scoop on the infamous Baltika #9....

Paul,
I was reading on your website about your information about Baltika #9. I did further research on review boards, opinions, etc. about this stuff. Basically what Baltika# 9 is is what we call in America "malt liquor". It's not exactly beer..it's made with a high malt and alcohol content (8% alcohol). Malt liquor is popular among the young punks, rednecks, weirdos, homeless, etc. Except in America malt liquor is sold in a -get this- 40 ounce bottle. It's guaranteed without a doubt to put you where you're planning to go, with no round trip tickets available. It's known as simply "a 40". It's ALWAYS cheap. There is no such thing as a 40 that costs more than 2 dollars. If you visit http://www.moderndrunkardmagazine.com/issues/03_03/03-03_forty_fury.htm this will give you a review of most of the popular american brands. St. Ides and Colt .45 are especially popular in the area I live in (Tennessee). Steel Reserve is popular in the Washington D.C./Baltimore area. Always a good way to get buzzed, wether your getting off work/probation, celebrating college ending/beginning, you name it. There are numerous brands of this garbage, some of which are so cheap and nasty that the color is inconsistent in each bottle, and if it's been sitting on the shelf for too long, the alcohol content has been raised to an unkown level (which is called a 'skunked' bottle). There are only certain brands sold in less-urban areas of the country. There's a website where people trade brands with others that they are not able to get in their area. There is one in my area not listed on that website accurately named "Hurricane". It sells for $1.29, and is infamous for being skunked due to prolonged periods on the shelf, causing sever lower-stomach discomfort the next morning. Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying a Russian malt liquor. I'm now seeing about getting some imported from my local beer man. But I'll have to take the bottles and pour them in an empty 40 so I'll get the correct effect. Thanks for introducing me to this swill....
