contact details

Don't hesitate to ask questions. While we appreciate preliminary inquiries by e-mail only, voice contact may be a good idea before you are off to Dubrovki.

Some of the things we would like to know about you:

  • Your name, contact details, and the number of persons.
  • The dates of your visit, even if approximate.
  • Where are you presently? We really prefer contacts form people who already made it to Russia.
  • Probability of cancellation? We are a small establishment and cannot process more than 2-3 guests at a time; at the same time we do not like losing potential visitors.
  • Your riding ability. Will you need lessons or riding companion? Quality field riding lessons in English, with heavy emphasis on horse care, are available from Pasha but arrangements need to be made in advance to have him available. All of us will, of course, help you to saddle up the horse and get her her moving.
  • Your weight.  Romashka is "rated" at 100kg (220lbs), Surprise can carry up to 80 (170lbs), and Moonie's limit is 45-50 (100lb). For big people Sur's brother Spetz, who is used to at least 250lbs, can be borrowed.
  • The nature of your interest in horse riding in the Russian countryside. It is not your standard tourist destination here so, to avoid mutual disappointment, we need to know what motivates you. You must also produce a release form form your government approved and sealed by the Russian Embassy closest to your residence, and cleared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow, a letter from your employer in triplicate, and a bunch of other papers, at your discretion, not to disappoint your expectations that you are travelling to the most absurdly bureaucratized place on Earth.
  • Your previous exposure to third world rural environment. We have hot water and running water but some distance apart: running water is in the stream down the hill and hot water is in buckets by the bathtub in the kitchen.
  • Special interests, eg. architecture, history, culture, literature, agriculture, economy, photography, writing, sports etc. We may have better suggestions and recommendations of how you could enjoy your visit if we know what turns you on.
  • Special accommodation requirements, eg. if you snore or are intolerant to sharing a room or whatever. We'll try to be as accommodating as our resources allow.
  • Food requirements or preferences, eg. typical Russian, vegetarian, Chinese etc. Let's say you are a coffee addict - then say so.
  • Working holiday guests please list your abilities and interests, or tell us what contribution you can make. And what motivates you - very important because your involvement with us will be much more intimate than in the case of "just" travellers.
  • Anything else we need to know about each other? Do not hesitate to ask. As much as I dislike phone calls, voice contact before coming is strongly encouraged.
