FEEDBACK FROM MARINA'S ROOM/APARTMENT RENTAL GUESTS

See my www.cheap-moscow.com for more offers.

I can "rent out" Marina to assist in your Russian projects. She can work on her own or under my supervision.

Here is her brief resume to help you decide if she can be of assistance:

Education: Physics & teaching (Simferopol State University, Physics Department, 1992)

Work experience: Teaching, physics and mathematics, high school

English & communications: Speaks English at the household level. Skilled at using Machine Translation so communicating will not be a problem. Another good habit of hers is that she responds e-mails within a day.

Special skills/areas of expertise:

  • Knowledge of room and apartment rental market of Moscow and area. Unlike I or especially Olesya, who specializes on finding short-term accommodation suitable for travellers, Marina understands that part of the market that serves Muscovites or newcomers to Moscow from other parts of Russia, i.e. long term rental of in the outskirts of Moscow, in the price range of $400-600 per month for a one or two room apartment, or $200 or so for a room. Consider consulting her or getting her to help you look for "local" style and price accommodation.
  • Recently she organized a comprehensive upgrade of my apartment. Part of this project was an investigation of where to buy practical inexpensive furniture. The job involved making purchasing decisions, organizing deliveries, supervising a handyman, and final clean up/cozying up of the place. This recent experience may make her a valuable resource for anyone who needs to settle in Moscow quick and easy.
  • Babysitting. For most of her teaching career Marina has been working with children, including juvenile delinquents.

Marina with a happy guest who rented a room from her. I was amused to notice that her clients praised Marina with the word "polite" on several instances. Probably by contrast after some exposure to others. Note that, unlike me, she has not yet had enough exposure to the travelling public to develop aversions and prejudices.
