Soon to be replaced. A short video may be added. Bookmark this page and be back.

The building. You will be on the 4th floor.

The kitchen corner. Note a BIG refrigerator, a water filter, heating plates, and enough miscellaneous utensils for 2-3 people.

Books, maps, and directories.

Of course you remain welcomed to ask me or any of my assistants and associates.

The washroom.  Good washing machine. Western-style toilet (without the "shelf").

Please note:
The toilet does not refill properly. Having replaced the valve mechanism several times I've come to the conclusion that the phenomenon is to be explained by the spirit of the place. Those familiar with recent Russian history and the concept of "communal apartment" - this units is, essentially, one huge room converted into a compact modern apartment - will understand; others please accept that you need to give the float an occasional nudge.

Hot water is centrally supplied, but just in case I've added an autonomous electric heater.

The bedroom [more photos soon]

A late 20's Summerfeld piano not too badly out of tune.

Note the flowers.
All of them are real and healthy.

The loft comfortably accommodates one and can be used either for storage or for the kids.  Click to see a bigger picture.

The few **from** the loft.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ACCESS TO THE LOFT IS VIA A LADDER. NO LIABILITY FOR YOUR PERSONAL INJURY IS ACCEPTED. YOU, ON THE OTHER HAND, ARE RESPONSIBLE  FOR THE DAMAGES THAT RESULT FROM YOUR FALLING FROM THE LADDER OR THE LOFT. THAT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH INEBRIATED GUEST AND ONCE WITH A CLUMSY SOBER ONE.

Computer with internet access and a printer are available.
I've been forced to impose a fee to cover internet, printer, and maintenance. The irony is that since fees where imposed guests stopped attempting to make improvements on their and the cost of upkeep went down. Daily contribution of $7 covers internet access, cartridges, paper, and an average of one visit by a computer maintenance fellow.

"snob appeal"

A view from the window onto the frozen canal.

"Dead Guard of Autumn Leaves"
by Petrishenko?? [link] graces one of the wall. This, I was told, is a "real" piece of art.

A painting by my great-grandfather, an engineer by profession, with nature art as a hobby.

Calling cards

I monitor the scene and buy cards from companies that work well at any given time. Cards are supplied at cost to our guests, on request. Presently I supply 500R ($17) TarioNet cards. These tend to disappear. If you don't find one in a little plastic pocket on the refrigerator by the door, ask Marina. These cares can be bought in some Dixis shops. The one in the Manezh underground shopping mall will usually carry them.

Good news: A cell phone is now available at no extra charge to our guests because WE CARE ABOUT YOUR COMFORT AND SAFETY
(in reality I just want it to be easy for you to buy my useless services on the spur of the moment - hope you don't read this small print)
