The apartment is to your left, about 150 yards. This small and then the larger bridge will take you right to St. Basil's and Red Square. Lenin's tomb will be to your left, and the famous GUM to your right. Another 15 minutes - and you are on the north side of Red Square, near the Bolshoi Theatre.

Metro Novokuznetskaya is 5-7 min. walk along Pyatnitskaya. Novikuznetskaya is on the "green" line that runs through the oldest and most significant parts of Moscow. Other stations on this line: .......................... Or you can walk to Metro Tretyakovskaya, from which you can access .................
Internet cafe right behind the Novokuznetskaya metro station. While there is a computer and fast internet in the apartment, it is nice to know you have a backup nearby.

The nearest vegetarian restaurant is 10-15 min. walk from you at Pyatnitskaya 43, stroyeniye 3, tel. 959-3510. Watch for this sign, follow the arrow. NO BEER, "NEW AGE" ATMOSPHERE, EXPENSIVE.More stuff for vegetarians here

Kievsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, and Leningradsky are all within 3-4 metro stops.
The famous street stand with maps of Russia and neighbouring states on Klementovsky, on your way to the Tretyakov Gallery.
At least two Japanese restaurants within a quarter of a mile.
Fish market. One of the few remaining places that house small vendors. Expensive, quality.
I personally prefer Freak Frak second hand and vintage store on Shabolovka but if you need something familiar like MacDonald's....
Excellent coffee but no less than $3-4 per cup. The apartment has a coffee maker, and instructions on using a Turkish-style pot for coffee that is gentler on your guts yet give a bitter kick to your brains are freely available from me.
A bliny place.
Beer garden is put up in the middle of this lawn in the summer.
Another recommended restaurant is Shesh-Besh. Azeri food. A serve-yourself table full of fresh vegetables for about $15.
Arts and crafts store for quality tasteful souvenirs.
