To make navigation easier I've pulled my original www.unclepasha.com, which has grown out of control, into several focused sites as follows:

Accommodation in Moscow, with many offers direct from landlords and hosts: www.cheap-moscow.com  Please note that this is merely a compilation of information for a thrifty traveller, and please don't think of my as a travel agent. At of the moment the cheapest roof over your head is $10/night, and you can pretty much count on something in the $25/night range. Apartments starts at $50/night but most are in the $70-100 range.

Horse back rides and trips at my "dacha" near Staritsa are now at www.russian-horse-rides.com

The City of Staritsa itself and lots of other places between Moscow & St. Petersburg are at www.staritsa.info  Consult this site if you have any business in Tver or Ryazan.

Need to be picked up at the airport?  See www.moscowdrivers.net  for a list and contact details of intelligent English-speaking drivers who will also be able to act as your guides and assist you with little errands, from purchasing tickets to finding accommodation. The point of this site is to put you in direct contact with the person who will be looking after you.

Buying railroad tickets at local prices and anything to do with Russian bride export is now Olesya's department. See her www.russiangirlfriday.com

The Moldova project is in Marisha's capable hands. See www.marisha.com

Business services, from small errands to comprehensive project support, are moving to www.oldmanfriday.com. This will be by far the most serious site of them all.

The old www.unclepasha.com site now serves as the main index and an archive.

My full contact information is HERE.

Bed and Breakfast in Cheriomushki, Moscow

Location:

Cheriomushki, nice quiet residential neighbourhood near the Moscow State University

Positioning:

Friendly and pleasant immersion experience with a retired professor

Owner/operator: This lady does not wish her name and coordinates to be displayed here.
Cost: $20/night
Special features and services:

The hosts speaks English fluently and is well familiar with the Moscow State University

Description:

At $20 per night for a room this is a true find for a budget traveller. Located in the Moscow State University area, it is only 15-20 minutes from the Kremlin by Moscow’s safe and comfortable subway. The host is a friendly English speaking retired university teacher. If you are looking for a safe, comfortable and inexpensive family-type accommodation, we strongly recommend this option.

Unfortunately, being an old Russian traumatized by repressions and thus suffering from something akin to paranoia, this babushka would not let us post her number and e-mail, so contact us, mention "the Cheryomushki lady", we'll call her right away.

PS. Enough niceties. Expect to be billed $50 for our involvement with this victim of Stalin terror. She seems to have some sort of a hangup about your being registered with the police. To arrange one successful transaction with her requires 5-10 calls and the same number of e-mails, and I insist on being compensated, especially if the work I do is the result of somebody's, hmm, irrationality. - Pasha
