Government Chaika cars enter through this entrance. I nearly got hit by
one while taking this picture. You'll notice that Kremlin towers lean left. It is because they have a special mechanism to indicate which way the Russian administration and society are moving. The communist sentiment is growing stronger these days. |

Took a quick shot of this colourful figure while he turned his back. Policemen here hate being filmed. |

Looking south from the Borovitsky Square. The Kremlin is out of sight on your left. The Big Stone bridge is straight ahead. Note the famous "House on the embankment". You may wish to proceed to the Internet site of the House on the Embankment Museum dedicated exclusively to the dramatic history of this old residence of Soviet elite. |

Looking west from Borovitskaya we see Christ-the-Savior Cathedral build
early 90s in place of a swimming pool build in place of a similar Christ-the-Savious
Cathedral build in place of a Women's Convent around 1830 or 40 build in place.... A secret revealed - The walls of this re-built cathedral are made of reinforced concrete. I've seen it poured with my own eyes! I am no theologist, but Gods are unlikely to frequent houses built of anything but stone and wood, I don't think. |
