We went past St. Basil's and found ourselves in the Red
Square, about the middle of it, between the Cathedral (south), the History Museum (north),
the Kremlin wall with Lenin's Tomb (west) and the GUM Shopping Mall (east). This is the Spasskaya Tower, the only one with a clock, which makes it a convenient landmark. If you see it, you are east in relation to the Kremlin. |

Lenin's Tomb, with his mummified body inside, is available for public viewing. A happy family having their picture taken in front of this structure was a site I didn't dare registering on film. Here you see them walking away. Generally speaking, I don't consider graveyards to be a proper place for taking casual photos but here I did that for your sake. Hope you reciprocate and support our traveller assistance business. Proceed to our Index Page to see how we can make your trip to Russia easier, cheaper and more fun. |

Soldiers or militia men keeping the tomb safe. The change of the guard ritual has been moved to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Park. We'll get there in 10 minutes. |

A whole cemetery is hiding behind the Mausoleum. I presume the busts designate higher ranking officials.. As I said, running around graveyards with a camera is not something I am naturally inclined to do. Please appreciate our effort and patronize our operation. |

Moscow's fanciest shopping mall is opposite the Mausoleum. |
Enjoy the sounds of the USSR hymn during this walk |
