End of 2009 to January 2010

For the Russian Brides from Uncle Pasha page. This is Tania from Samara, 22, philologist, now lives and works in Moscow. Presently learning English.

Another one to illustrate the schizophrenic man and animal relations in this land. Feeding birds is almost a national obsession. At the same time they will shoot at animals for no apparent reason.

Drinking in Russia. The cheapest brew, called "777", the choice of rural drunks. The hangover is characterized by a severe melancholy attack. No ill effects otherwise.

The Vernissage market. Souvenirs for foreigners. Flea market.

Examples of vegetarian food widely available.

A shelter for stray dogs in a neighbourhood park in Tushino, north-west end of Moscow.

Chechen sweaters at the Vernissage market. Definitely recommended!

Another one for my Russian brides page. About 30, speak English, works as a travel agent.

Another "Russian drinking experience" illustration. Here I'm assessing the cheapest of fortified wines, knows as "777", which is the choice of the poorest of the poor.

Bolshaya Ordynka, Moscow. My neighbourhood.

More Vernisage photos

The "Auto Technology" museum near Krasnogorsk. Mostly dedicated to military stuff. Easy to visit on the way to my dacha. Add to the www.staritsa.info project.

Name????, an author of a book on the history of the Vernisage market.

Once again we've avoided fire. One of the guests leaned this whatever this tool is called against a hot metal stove.

Helicopter Club on New Riga highway on the way from Moscow to Staritsa.  For the www.staritsa.info page.

Zamoskvorechye (central Moscow) on a cold winter night.

The flea market part of the Vernisage. Old people can sell their things here free of charge.

For the "Drinking in Russia" series of photos.

An inexpensive hotel near the Domodedovo Airport. To be added to www.cheap-moscow.com

One of the view remaining "standing room only" Soviet style cheap drinking establishments.

"Beds for rent, central, 400 roubles per night."  That's an equivalent of about $14. Cheap. Near Metro Rizhskaya, which is pretty central and otherwise convenient. To be checked out and added to www.cheap-moscow.com

An antique toy seller is offended at my taking photos. I experience an average of one threat of a physical attack or one actual attack per day of taking photos.

To be used for www.moscowdrivers.net

A new hangout for the homeless, quite habitable at -25C, discovered near Metro Alexeyevskaya. Move to www.cheap-moscow.com/free_accommodation.htm

A list of shelters for the homeless. Click to enlarge. It is also for my Free Accommodation in Moscow page.

$5/hour, $25/night hotel. To be investigated.

A bakery on Leningradskoye Shosse, on the left side if going out of town, 500 meters from Metro Voykovskaya. To be used for www.unclepasha.com/vegetarian_russia.htm

9th Park Street and Izmaylovky Boulevard, Metro Pervomayskaya. To be used for the page with my favourite Soviet style lowlife drinking establishments.
