Ukrainian prisoners of Crimean Tartars, 15-17 centuries

"Ukrainians were especially valued on Tartar slave market for being unspoiled and and guileless, compared to the Muscovites. Contemporary sources say that when slaves from the Ukraine would arrive to Kafa (now Evpatoria) "the auctioner cried out loud that these are the newest slaves, simple, artless, brought from the King's people (i.e. from Poland), not from Moskovia. Moscow race was considered cheap by Tartars for being crafty and deceptive."
