What's the point?

Big savings compared to buying them from an agent abroad. See Examples of Railroad Ticket Prices. Flexibility. Speed and convenience compared to buying tickets yourself. Soon I will be posting a photo of a typical scene by the tickets window at the Leningradsky (most popular) train station, as an illustration why your $25 will be well spent by letting us take care of your tickets.

Those who still prefer to get their own tickets - watch for the upcoming list of my favourite sources of train and air ticket in Moscow. [where to buy tickets]

Disclaimers

I am not a ticket seller. I am not a travel agent. I can be hired to run errands, and buying tickets in among them. My clients MAY ask me to look up prices for them, as a favour. Inquiries from comparison shoppers or "just curious" will normally be ignored while I reserve the right to snap.

If you insist on buying tickets in advance

Generally we recommend that you postpone buying tickets till you are here. Avoid overplanning. If, however, you absolutely insist on getting your tickets in advance, here is the procedure:

1. We check the approximate cost of tickets.
2. You transfer the amount somewhat higher than anticipated cost to my bank (The Royal Bank of Canada in London, Ontario). Or use PayPal. Please DO NOT send us money by Western Union because that generates a considerable amount of footwork for us. Old-fashioned cheques seem to work best.
3. We need all names, in full, preferably as it is written in Russian in your visa, and your passport numbers
4. Instructions or at least guidelines on the tickets you need (class, the importance of budget vs. comfort, flexibility of your dates, refundability). We get the closest to what you wish from among what can be procured.
3. We buy the tickets that will then be waiting for you. Or they can be sent by courier (another $40 or so).
4.  Final calculation and settlement is done after you get your tickets.

The cost of buying tickets in advance is likely to be higher than our regular "per errand" administrative fee of $25.

Please note that tickets can be procured no more than 45 days in advance.
