Q. What time of the year is best for my Russian trip?
A. Late in the fall is your safest best. Freezing rain, darkness in the afternoon, humidity that will reach your bones through no matter how many layers of thermal underwear will revamp your sensed of being alive and your appreciation of simple creature comforts. Russian revolutions too tend to happen in the fall, so with some luck you'll witness history in the making. March can be recommended if you are looking for an opportunity to experience one of famous Moscow's flues that puts one out of circulation for two weeks and lingers on deep in your chest till May. If you think nothing can annoy you, try early June mosquitoes or August flies. If lumbago and radiculitis are your thing, I recommend February winds that blow adjust their direction according to where you are heading, and find openings in your coat. Are you sensitive to BO? If so, try June or July. People tend to be most obnoxious, in my observations, in October.Q. ..............
